The Prostate Centre’s exercise program is a community-based program for prostate cancer patients and survivors that will encompass both exercise and education.
The goal of the program is to give you the education, motivation and tools to be physically active in your own community.
The summer program is an 8-session, twice weekly exercise program completed over 4 weeks that incorporates 60 minutes of circuit training exercises and 15 minutes of education or relaxation.
All participants are required to complete a physical activity readiness questionnaire (PAR-Q+) before starting this program. Program flexibility is available to accommodate people who are currently undergoing treatment and also people who are suffering from the side effects of treatments.
The supervised exercise component follows current exercise guidelines for cancer survivors and patients that are tailored to the needs of each participant. The program encompasses both aerobic exercise with strength, flexibility, balance and core stabilization.
